COMMUNITY + COLLECTIVE
Dogs As a Catalyst For Community
We started CornChip Dog Collective from our home in St. Paul, Minnesota a little over 2 years ago. In that time, it has come to evolve in real time. But at it’s core, we’ve always held community as the nexus of this tiny business.
Within the first few weeks of rescuing or pup, Eddie, we realized that spending time with dogs was an entry point to community. The shyness we share behind our screens dissolves by simply asking, “What kind of dog is that?”.
The more we were out in community with our pup, the closer community came to us. We truly believe that spending quality time with our dogs naturally fosters small joys that connect us to people and place; things that bring deep value.
This past winter in Minnesota, we saw just how important community is to our safety and well-being. Building and nurturing a resilient community based on a strong foundation of shared values can only continue to be beneficial to ourselves and our shared environment as we continue to face a future of uncertainty.
We believe art is more important than ever and we want to introduce a new creative project to collaborate with community: an artist residency.
WHY WE CREATED THIS KICKSTARTER
We view ourselves as creating community first and then selling physical goods second. It's just a strong value for us that we stick to. We’ve probably garnered a reputation of being obsessed with dogs (which don’t get us wrong, we are!) but really, we’re obsessed with the community they foster.
The artist residency is an opportunity to collaborate with community to celebrate dogs and the small joys they foster. At a time when our phones make us feel isolated and A.I. is taking away from the human experience, human creativity, and human critical thinking - we want to celebrate it.
But we need your help to propel this mission. That’s where YOU and this Kickstarter campaign come in to help us with that goal.
